With an alias like Felony, most would immediately sum up his music before they even pressed the play button. Felony, born in the South Bronx of New York, knows this very well, but nevertheless refuses to change it. When criticized for it he explains simply that the name was given to him by someone very near and dear to him. This person was an older cousin of his whom before passing away ordained him Felony, simply because “it was a crime the way he flowed.” It was because of this cousin of his that Felony, born Stephen H. began rapping in small talent shows, recording songs over his little casino piano beats. Long after his cousin’s tragic death, Stephen continued to pursue both their dreams, every once in a while taking the time out to immortalize him in a few of the long list of songs that he has recorded since then.

Many may not know, but A Bronx Tale is not Felony’s first album. Prior to this Archive release, he has had 2 unreleased LP's. The first one entitled Memoirs, premiered while he was affiliated with his first rap group D.F.P. when he was about the age of 16. The other was called Same Ol’ Stee, which came about when he was 21 while working with Gimmedat Muzic, an independent label based out in Atlanta , Georgia. In the years soon to follow Felony was on route to truly earning the alias as he got deeper into the streets and farther away from the music. With much coaxing and encouragement from family and friends, and a few near brushes with the law and some grave situations, he was finally able to leave that all behind and got his life back together. He then enrolled into school and went on to walk the everyday 9 to 5 route as a maintenance worker. With a growing distaste for the mediocrity of punching the clock and with his interest in school rapidly dwindling, he turned back to his roots. Now with bridges burned and so much time lost, he had to start back from scratch . But as they say, all things happen for a reason and over the years he was forced to learn how to multi task on various levels of music. Felony has produced a good portion of his own CD, and has production credits on many other underground artists’ albums. In fact, after going legit and losing his job, his only source of income was through the beats he composed causing his production catalog to grow swiftly. Now his distinct sound can be heard all throughout the New York tri-state and even as far as Atlanta, Georgia.

With bigger dreams on his mind than simply getting a record contract, Felony and some close friends attempted to start and run thier own record label, but with everyone not seeing eye to eye on numerous matters, Epidemic Records soon fell apart. When they attempted to revive that dream, too much time had passed and Epidemic Records was soon taken by another company. This proved to be a major set back to the movement and Felony and his team were forced to re-think and re-group. Still, through out all the label politics, he continued making music. Between the death of Epidemic and its' rebirth as Archive, Felony traveled back and forth from New York and Atlanta to record A Bronx Tale, his first debut under the new found label. Packed with wit and haunting tales of his personal experiences growing up in the South Bronx, this album is sure to be a classic with rap fans who truly miss how the genre used to sound. With a multitude of metaphors and sublime lyrics over hard hitting rap tracks, listeners will no doubt have this one on rewind, over and over again.
